Hey Dirk!
awesome site! thanks for advertising it on your page :D
really cool of all the pro drummers on here to do this!

Been trying to get nerve down for quite a while now and i'm not quite sure how exactly the main kick drum pattern goes. (I know how it should sound though:P )

Is it constant 16s with the right foot and those 32nd notes thrown in with the left foot. Or maybe two hertas followed by a quick R L R?
Maybe you do it another way?
what are those quick 32nd note groups of 3 called anyway? people always seem to call them triplets altough theyre not.

I know I've asked this before, but what about the dvd?
Where is it? I'm soooo looking forward to it :D

Peace!
/Kenny

Hey Kenny,

You're welcome. Drumhall kicks major ass indeed!

Regarding Soilwork's "Nerve", you got it right: I play the chorus in 16th notes with the right foot, and throw in the 32nd notes with the left foot. The basic pattern goes something like this:
RLR R RLR R RLR

An alternate way to play it, more technically challenging but also quite fun, is by playing double strokes with both feet:
RRL R LLR L RRL

I initially practiced the song using those double stroke hits, but having had only a few weeks to prepare the entire "Stabbing The Drama" record, I didn't feel comfortable enough in the studio to pull it off flawlessly. So I went for the butcher's approach instead, haha!

Not sure what the biological term is for those patterns. I guess you could call 'em threesomes?

As far as my drumming DVD goes, the plan is to shoot it this Summer. No release date is set yet, but at least I'm finally moving ahead with this project. Keep an eye on www.dirkverbeuren.com for more details!

Cheers, and blast like a maniac!
/Dirk
